Blast from the Past: With municipal elections upon us and nominees already announced, the staff at Bashaw Star felt it best to highlight an election story from Sept. 24, 1980 in which the headline read: “Council only by election.” The new mayor, Mac Raemer, was acclaimed and so was the hospital board representative, Lawrence Reierson, as well as Dave Goodman, as the Bashaw representative for the County of Camrose Board of Education. Much has changed since then. Bashaw Star wishes candidates the best of luck should there be an election. Those running for council were Mel Hay, Russell Braseth, Lynn Bennett, John Gust, Arlyne Goodman, Gordon Render, Art Birch and Connie Anderson. Star photo
