The Walker Family Reunion was held in Byemoor over the July 1 weekend with more than 200 family members attending. They were descendants of the Harry and Bessie Walker and Lloyd and Helen Walker families. The weekend was filled with much reminiscing, visiting, feasting and catching up on happenings since the last reunion.

The family celebration continued in Stettler on July 2 – 3 when Dick and Joyce (nee Walker) Moore celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary celebration as well as a Moore family reunion. Congratulations on this extraordinary milestone Dick and Joyce.

The 20th annual Wade Buchwitz Memorial Gymkhana was held on July 1 at the Endiang Riding and Roping Club’s outdoor arena in Endiang. More than 100 contestants competed in the gymkhana events.

High Point winners included — Tinymite – Teagan Verhoeven, Pee Wee – (tie) Kayla and Clara Boxma, Junior – Addison Rock and Senior – (tie) Jamie Harden and Jalissa Klassen.

Event winners were — Tinymite Poles – Teagan Verhoeven, Pee Wee Poles – Clara Boxma, Junior Poles – Chesney Andersen, Senior Poles – Jamie Harden, Tinymite Barrels – Rhett Van Straten, Pee Wee Musical Buckets – Brant Elder, Junior Musical Buckets – Whip Gertner, Senior Musical Buckets – Dawn Gertner, Junior Goat Tying – Kayla Hronek, Senior Goat Tying – Jalissa Klassen, Pee Wee / Junior Breakaway – Jake Armstrong, Senior Breakaway – Monty Gertner, Team Roping – Robyn and Jake Armstrong and Cattle Penning – Ryder, Colter and Kord Buchwitz.

Cowboy Kindness Awards were presented to — Tinymite – Mac Lourance, Pee Wee – Reina Peterson, Junior – Jessica Boxma and Senior – Ricky Andersen.

Many spectators enjoyed the events, the Pig Roast supper, and fireworks later in the evening. The organizers appreciate the work of all the volunteers, the sponsors, the contestants and all those who came out to watch to make for another very successful gymkhana.

Other action at the Endiang Riding and Roping Club arena was an ABRA Barrel Racing Jackpot put on by Kathy Groundwater on June 28.

A graveside service will be held for Walter Wiese at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Scapa on Sat, July 15 at 1 p.m. Friends and neighbours are welcome to attend. There will be no fellowship luncheon to follow, just visiting at the cemetery. Walter passed away on Jan. 7, 2023, in Hanna at 85 years of age.

The Church of Endiang will be meeting at the Tateson Ranch for July and August in Endiang on the second Sunday of each month – with the next one on August 13 at 6 p.m. with all welcome.

The Endmoor community had international visitors recently when Kirk and Twila Buchwitz and family had a visit from Twila’s brother Shane Hodgson and his two children from Maine, USA. Shane was here for Ryder’s graduation.

Congratulations to Tanner Tazier and Nash Dettmer on their high school graduation at Delia on July 7, both former students of the Byemoor School. Best wishes on all your future endeavours, Tanner and Nash. Coincidently, the boys not only graduated together but were also born on the same day and both turned 18 on May 17. Tanner is the son of Chris and Lisa (Reeves) Tazier and Nash is the son of Ryan and Denny (Knowles) Dettmer.

Remember the Byemoor Tailgate Markets go every Thursday throughout July and August on Main Street in Byemoor at 11 a.m. All vendors are welcome at no charge.

Congratulations to Warren Jones and Traci Kruisselbrink who were married in the couple’s farmyard south of Byemoor on Sat, July 8. In the evening they were joined by many friends and neighbours for a wedding dance, also held at the Jones farm—best wishes to Warren and Traci for a long and happy marriage.

The Schultz family extends an invitation to join them for their 41st annual Pancake Breakfast and Campout weekend on July 14 – 16 at the Schultz farm south of Endiang. There will be fireworks on Saturday evening and on Sunday is the pancake breakfast, Great Endiang Balloon Race and Frisbee Golf tournament along with camping all weekend. Everyone is welcome.

Hayden Scheerschmidt was on the Canadian team at the Can-Am Bowl XXV with Canada vs USA in six-a-side football. It was hosted in Hanna on July 8 at the J.C. Charyk football field. The first time hosted in Alberta, the game drew a good crowd. The US team claimed the victory with an 82-16 win.

Happy 80th Birthday wishes go out to Marilyne Boehlke who marked her special milestone on July 9. Marilyne celebrated with family and friends at a get-together at daughter Lorri and Don McLeod’s acreage near Hanna on the day of her birthday. Congratulations and best wishes for many more happy birthdays, Marilyne.

Happy 65th Birthday wishes are sent to Larry Stulberg who celebrated his special day on July 12. Enjoy those government cheques, Larry.
