Museum Day, put on by the Donalda Museum Aug. 19, was a wonderful success with a larger number of people taking advantage of the free admission into the museum.

Everyone was delighted at the large number of lamps within the collection, but also the many other local artifacts that are on display.

A number of families also took part in a scavenger hunt that led them on a little adventure, showcasing the many highlights of Main Street in Donalda. There were also a few people who took advantage of the silly photo props at the Big Lamp to make their photos a little more fun. The museum would like to thank all who came out.

It is election year for municipal governments in Alberta. Nomination day for candidates is Sept. 18. If the number of nominations exceeds Donalda’s three council positions, an election will be held on Oct. 16. Prospective candidates can obtain election information from the Village of Donalda returning officer Jason Olson at the village office by calling (403) 883-2345. As well, election information can also be found online at www.municipalaffairs.alberta.ca/mc_elections.

The Donalda Gallery for the Arts will be featuring the art work of Doris Banziger in “Breath of the Wilds” until Sept. 10. This exhibit showcases a combination of acrylic and oil paintings, as well as delicate drawings and painted feathers. Don’t forget to check them out on Facebook for upcoming exhibits and other local events.

The Wild Pink Yonder group enjoyed Donalda and the coulees so much last year that they will be back again for September Long Weekend starting on Fri Sept 1. There will be a turkey dinner — hosted by the Donalda Museum — on Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Drop-In Centre. The menu consist of roast turkey, dressing, gravy, dreamy mashed potatoes, buttered carrots, corn, yummy beets as well as salads, buns, beverages and desserts.
