Coronation Royal Performing Arts’ 2023-24 concert series has drawn to a close.
The final show of the season had around 140 people gather at the Coronation Community Hall on March 16 to listen to the vocal stylings of folk singer Raine Hamilton and her string trio.
Before the show, as usual, a catered meal was offered for those wanting to purchase tickets.
On the menu for the final show was honey garlic pork loin, potatoes, vegetables, salad and dessert.
Around 7:30 p.m., Hamilton, accompanied by cellist Natanielle Felicitas and double bassist Quintin Bart, took to the stage.
The trio is based out of Winnipeg and is currently on a Western Canada tour.
During the performance, the group performed two nine-song sets of mainly original songs based on life in the prairies, though some of the songs were based on Hamilton’s creative sessions in Banff and time spent in Haida Gwaii.
According to Felicitas, while the majority of the lyrics are written by Hamilton, all the string pieces are co-written by the trio.
Following the second set, Hamilton came out on stage for a single-song solo encore.
With the season done, Coronation Royal Performing Arts looks towards the 2024-25 season, the schedule for which was released at the Hamilton show.
Starting the season on Nov. 9 is the group Paperboys, performing everything from Celtic to Mexican folk to bluegrass and everything in between.
On Dec. 7, country artist Tommy Charles will roll into town.
In January, a band described as a mix of the Foo Fighters and AC/DC set in an East Coast kitchen party will come to town on the 25th in the form of the Arcana Kings.
A celebration aimed at making the piano cool again will take place on Feb 15 when Piano Heist comes to the Coronation stage.
Finally, to close the season, folk-inspired Newfoundland group Rum Ragged will close the season on March 29, 2025.
Season Tickets for the upcoming show will be available at L and C Bookkeeping until the first performance of the 2024-25 season.
