Highway 12 near Halkirk has reopened following a collision between a bus and a semi-truck.

Police closed Highway 12 near Highway 855 due to the collision around 8:45 a.m. on March 13.

In a release issued at 9:20 a.m., Coronation RCMP said they were on the scene of the crash at about 10 a.m. Wednesday and no life-threatening injuries had been reported.

At about 9:30 a.m. Clearview Public Schools issued a release via its social media channels saying that it had notified parents of the crash between one of its buses and another vehicle near Castor.

In a later news release, the school district said the students were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.

“Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, and all individuals involved were assessed by professional EMS personnel,” the school district said in the release Wednesday afternoon.

“As a precautionary measure, the students were transported to the hospital for further evaluation. We are grateful for the swift response of the emergency services and the care provided to those affected.”

“Families of the students and staff onboard have been contacted and updated on the situation.”

According to the RCMP, Highway 12 was closed between Range Road 163 and Range Road 155 while emergency crews responded and the collision was cleared. Traffic could use RR163 and 155 as a detour.

Another RCMP release issued just before 6 p.m. announced that the highway had reopened to traffic.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
