The case of the late night youth door knockers has been solved by Bashaw RCMP.

This past summer, two complaints were provided to police related to suspects banging on doors, windows and siding of homes in Bashaw. The incidents caused concern and fright for those who were woken up.

Sgt. Bruce Holliday said the first incident occurred July 25 at about 4 a.m. and the second on Aug. 8 at around the same time. The risky behaviour put RCMP into investigation mode and they were able to identify the culprits with the help of residents and security cameras.

Footage from the town’s cameras, as well as residents’ cameras were used to identify the youths. Holliday says footage on the first night showed three youths involved and two to three youths on the second night.

That footage was enough to identify them.

Holliday says the RCMP followed up with the youths and with Bashaw School administration in an effort to address concerns.

The youths have been spoken to by police.
