In Loving Memory ~

Marlene Elaine Baron, beloved wife of Orest Baron, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on December 5, 2023, at the age of 76.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, her daughter Joanne, son Colin (Val), as well as two grandsons, Zachary, and Mackenzie. Marlene was predeceased by her siblings, Michael, Joanne, Mervin, Darlene, and Raymond.

Born into a large family, Marlene grew up in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. It was here that she met and married her sweetheart, Orest. They made a life together travelling throughout Western Canada with Joanne and Colin in tow.

In 1975, the family purchased a farm and settled in Bashaw, Alberta. It was here that Marlene began her career with Royal Bank, becoming their loans officer. After 15 years of hard work on the farm, it was time to sell and move to town.

Marlene will be remembered for her generous spirit, dedicated work ethic and green thumb. Her greenhouse, huge vegetable garden and beautiful flowers and roses were the highlight of her day. She loved celebrating Ukrainian Christmas Eve dinner, spending time camping with her "Poopsie" (Orest) and cherished the time spent with family and friends.

The family would like to thank Central Alberta Cancer Centre, Bashaw homecare, St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, and Red Deer Hospice for their wonderful kindness and compassion while Marlene was in their care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations, in Marlene's name, to Red Deer Hospice Society (reddeerhospice.com).

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with the arrangements.
