Donalda Diary

The Donalda Community congratulates the Donalda School on their recent accomplishments in the literacy challenge.

The goal was to collectively read 5,000 minutes in three days. To quote Mr. Siemens, “We crushed that goal.”

In fact they actually reached over 6,000 minutes. As a reward, they were given tickets to a Camrose Kodiaks game courtesy of the club. They travelled by bus on November 11, and the game was great, with the Kodiaks winning a close contest 3-2.

Finally, in school sports, the boys won the B side of C.A.R.A., which is definitely an impressive result considering their oldest player is only in Grade 7. The girls’ team, having won the A side of C.A.R.A. qualified for C.W.A.J.H.A.A., which involves the best teams from Alberta Central. Unfortunately, they lost in the final match against Clive, but it was close (25-12, 22-25, 16-18). Just the same, it was a most impressive outing. Getting that far and doing so well is something that was totally unexpected at the start of the season. Well done, both teams.

The Donalda school will hold their Christmas Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 20th at 7 p.m. Come out and support the children.

Please join the Donalda Library for their third annual gingerbread village event in the Donalda Coulee Drop In Centre on Saturday, December 16th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. All ages are welcome. Admission is by donation to the Donalda Library. All baked goodies and supplies are provided.

Birthday wishes go out to Ron Schoettler, Jaden Charles, Kade Strandquist, Mike O’Malley, Vikse, Bernice Dietrich, Lumen Pereira, Darryl Walker, Jack Dinsmore, Shianne Klatt and anyone else celebrating this week. Happy Birthday.
