Either people were too busy watching the winter Olympics or busy being outside enjoying our winter activities.

Maybe that’s why the most recent Bashaw Star poll — What is your favourite Winter Olympic Sport? — elicited just a pair of votes, one each for hockey and speedskating.

However, even though there weren’t many votes having been cast, there were a few comments on the subject made by readers on Facebook.

Mark Isleifson took a trek back in time, going on about the collusion in a certain sport.

“For me, it is any of the sports that do not require judging. The Salé and Pelletier fiasco from a few years back just ruined my wife’s enjoyment of figure skating. She never watches it anymore, which makes me sad.”

Meanwhile, Fern Bolduc didn’t focus on the events, but on the athletes.

“I love it all! I think of the hours and hours of work/effort and love each athlete has put in to participate at this event. My heart goes out to each and everyone of them from every country.”

For Louise Hogg, she chose curling and hockey, while Mary Ellen Docherty had three choices — curling, speed skating and all of the skiing events.
