A fun summer had by all in Donalda

Donalda Library wraps another summer filled with reading

The Donalda Library has just wrapped up this year’s TD Summer Reading Program with the theme of Canada 150, and from the wonderful crafts on display, it is easy to tell that everyone had a blast.

The program numbers continue to rise and this year the Donalda Library was able to hire two summer students to help run the program.

The program focused on keeping kids learning and staying active during the summer months. All the kids who took part in this year’s program are eager to see what the Donalda Library has in store for next year.

The Donalda Gallery for the Arts will be featuring the art work of Doris Banziger in “Breath of the Wilds” from now until Sept. 10.

This exhibit showcases a combination of acrylic and oil paintings, as well as delicate drawings and painted feathers. Don’t forget to check them out on Facebook for upcoming exhibits and other local events.

Willow Canyon Drive-In Movie will be featuring the film ‘Pixels’ on Aug. 25 with the film beginning at dusk (approximately 9:30 p.m.). Gates and concession will open at 7 p.m.

The film will be featured on a 20’ x 40’ outdoor movie screen in the scenic Donalda Coulee Badlands. There will be a full concession available and feel free to come out and explore the badlands before the movie. For more information, call (403) 883-2943.

The Wild Pink Yonder group enjoyed Donalda and the coulees so much last year that they will be back again on the September Long Weekend. If you would like to ride with them on any or all of the days, please contact Becky Clement at (403) 883-2436.

The Ag Society has donated the grounds and area plus the kitchen for this group. Thank you.

If you want to book a campsite, please contact the Ag Society. If you wish to donate to Breast Cancer Research in Alberta, please contact Bruce at (403) 883-2943.

The Donalda Coulee Friendship Club is closed Saturdays in August. Though mark your calendars as Sept. 10 will be the next Pancake Breakfast and everyone is welcome.

Birthday wishes go out to Bailey Dietrich, Judy Swaren, Shawn Sutton, Deegan Gebhardt, Geert Bakkers, Kelti Olson, Rhett Norman, Brent Hartum, Laura Hebbes, Michal Henderson and Jennifer Reyes. Happy birthday to all.
