Featured in the Aug. 11, 1992 edition of the Bashaw Star, this special handmade hay swath fluffer must have turned some heads. Lyle Benkie is featured in this photo with his homemade swath fluffer built from an old combine pickup. As the caption has it, Benkie got the idea hearing of a Saskatchewan farmer who made one. The Bashaw Star went into full detail on the fluffer pointing out the pickup was attached to a self-propelled swather, which fluffed rain-soaked swaths. The Star was told that it “Works like a charm!” And, “After it is mounted, only a 9/16 wrench is needed to loosen four bolts, to one belt off the swather.” Star photo
