Support was strong for the Bashaw Fire Department’s (BFD) golf fundraiser held Sept. 9.

With about 20 teams converging on the event, there was no shortage of golfers taking in the fun and action.

“Everyone seems to be having a good time,” explained Loren Jacobs, a member of the BFD and organizer of the fundraiser.

This was the second annual fundraiser for the department and he said the goal is to bring more funds to help with the purchase of a new rescue unit but also to help with the ongoing equipment needed for rescue and fire protection operations.

Money has been set aside for a rescue unit but Jacobs suggests the more money the department has, the better it will be in the long run for purchases.

“There’s a wants and a needs list for the hall,” said Jacobs, adding that the majority of the needs are there.

However, an upgraded Jaws of Life set or other equipment are areas where the Bashaw Fire Department is always looking to be ready for.

Jacobs was pleased with the strong turnout and with the many donated prize items from businesses and individuals who supported the fundraiser.
