The Bashaw Agricultural Grounds were host to three nights of fast-paced chucks and chariots from the Alberta Professional Chuckwagon and Chariot Association Aug. 23 to 25.
There were 14 heats of wagons over the three evenings, and 15 heats of chariots. Rain on Friday night didn’t dampen the crowd’s enthusiasm at all, as there was still a decent turnout with about half of the stand full of spectators.
In the chucks, fractions of a second separated the first and second place in the average, both taken by Salmonds.
Wade Salmond came in first in the average with a total time of 191.25 and was followed by Wayne Salmond by just a hair at 191.89.
Kevin Desjarlais took third place with a total time of 194.23 and Dale Young finished in fourth place with a total time of 195.84.
Wayne Salmond bettered Wade in the chariots though, taking first place in the average with a time of 183.34
Martina Hubl was second in the average with 184.39, Louis Johner came in third with 186.01 and Chester Blatz was fourth with 186.03.
