Woman charged with attempted murder after shooting in Flagstaff County

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Flagstaff County on Jan. 27.

Alicia Vandenberg, 42, is facing a slew of charges after Killam RCMP was dispatched to a reported shooting in Hardisty.

When members arrived, a male was found with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Edmonton.

As of Feb. 1, RCMP report the victim remains in critical condition.

An investigation as conducted with the assistance of Forensic Identification Services and Eastern Alberta District General Investigation Section.

Vandenberg has been charged with pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, in addition to the attempted murder charge.

She was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. Her next court date is scheduled for Feb. 7, at the Camrose Court of Justice.
