Bashaw folks were treated to a special night of skating hosted by the Bashaw Skate Club.
Held Dec. 15, the evening was dubbed the Tinsel and Treasure Gala with skaters of all ages showcasing their skills to parents and family.
Krista Dryden, president of the Bashaw Skate Club, said it was a great night for the skaters to show off what they’ve learned in the season so far. It was all about the kids and was also used as a fundraiser to keep club prices down for members.
“This will help our big carnival at the end of the year,” added Dryden.
“Our carnival is going to be good. It’s going to be Grease this year.”
Usually the carnival, usually held some time in March, hosts a special guest skater with the big announcement to come later.
Along with the skaters was a special showcase for local vendors upstairs of the arena.
This was the first time bringing a mini market to the show, which turned out to be a successful event.
There’s about 30 kids in the skate programs offered by the club. Those programs include CanSkate and STARSkate, which are part of the Skate Canada program.
