A pair of area politicians are coming together and working collectively to see what can be done to help out businesses.

Camrose MLA Jackie Lovely along with Battle River-Crowfoot MP Damien Kurek have embarked on a journey to assist the local small business economy.

“We have requested the assistance of the region’s Chambers of Commerce, mayors, reeves and business owners to help us get a sense of what federal and provincial programs are working and what are not. We are making efforts to ensure no one falls through the cracks,” said Lovely in a press release.

The Camrose Chamber of Commerce was one that recently sent out the survey to their members to help gather this important data.

“We’re hoping within the next two weeks that we will have a good number of responses back so we can create a report based upon the feedback we receive. We are also striking a task force to strategize how we can best support communities in the Camrose Constituency” Lovely added.

Meanwhile, Kurek explained the it’s important for everyone to work together to ensure the help gets to where it is needed.

“It’s important to understand the impact of the COVID-19 Crisis on business across east central Alberta. That understanding will help both your provincial and federal representatives ensure the right tools are made available for your business to get back on track,” he said in the release.

“The coming months will be very important as we develop a path forward to emerge from this crisis and get our economy moving again, all while still making sure we take the necessary health precautions to protect the most vulnerable among us. This survey will help us in that process. If you need any assistance or have questions or concerns, your elected representatives are here to help.”

The deadline for submissions is May 8. Should any other businesses be interested in participating in the survey they are invited to contact the Camrose MLA constituency office at 780-672-0000.
