Bashaw Hometown Days dazzles

Something to do for everyone during Hometown Days

The Town of Bashaw was alive with activity over the weekend of Aug. 26 to 28.

Starting on Aug. 26, the “Taste the Dust” All-Pro Chuckwagon tour rolled into town. Starting at 6 p.m., four heats of chariots and six heats of wagons took part in day one of the event which carried on at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 and 2 p.m. Aug. 28 for the finals.

Over at the Bashaw Arena, Bashaw’s Got Talent kicked off around 7 p.m. on Aug. 26 with a good mix of both performers and spectators. At the conclusion of Bashaw’s Got Talent, Alberta-based musical talent Travis Dolter took the stage at 9 p.m., playing for just over an hour before taking a break for the fireworks being launched just across the road.

On Aug. 27, the wet weather didn’t dampen spirits too much, with the parade and many outdoor displays continuing on. There were magicians and clowns for the kids, and gymnasts performed on Main Street in front of the hotel.

During the evening, the top three performers from Bashaw’s Got Talent opened for Chad Brownlee in a free concert.
