Bashaw RCMP would like to remind everyone that Main Street (50 Street) as well as many other streets in the Town of Bashaw consist of angle parking.

In order to properly angle park, one must enter the parking spot from the same side of the road they intend to park. This also applies to leaving the same parking spot, as you must reverse into your most immediate and closest lane, not across to the furthest lane.

“We have seen a significant rise in accidents from drivers attempting to cross the double yellow centre line to angle park on the other side of the street,” said Cst. K.R. Neilson of the Bashaw RCMP in a news release.

The Bashaw RCMP will be enforcing section 15(1)(a) of the Traffic Safety Act which pertains to crossing a double solid line and carries a penalty of $243.
