Around 90 people gathered at the Bashaw Legion for a sombre ceremony of remembrance on Nov. 11.

Beginning at 10:50 a.m., the hour-long ceremony featured the traditional moment of silence at 11 a.m., and remarks by Legion president Bob Dart and Legion chaplain Robin King.

Following the service, the Legion hosted a free lunch consisting of sandwiches which those in attendance were invited to stay for.

Around the room, posters from the 2022 Legion poster contest were on display. According to Dart, the 2023 posters will be collected at the beginning of December and displayed for the 2024 Remembrance Day ceremony.

In addition to the ceremony, Dart says the Legion also placed seven wreaths at the Bashaw Cemetery, a large one in the middle of the driveway and three smaller ones on either side of the gate.

“We do that every year,” said Dart.
