Bashaw Star is working on changing its logo.
Along with the logo change, the Star is looking at changing its front page and bringing area news to readers.
“Without our readers the Bashaw Star wouldn’t be what it is today, which is why we hope to hear from readers about what they would like,” explained editor Jeffrey Heyden-Kaye.
Readers are asked to call, email or write letters to the editor as to what they would like to see changed and added. Among the ideas being discussed are including area news such as town minutes from towns in the area, plus the hope is to bring a puzzle page to the Star such as Sudoku and crossword puzzles.
One of our more popular stories, besides town council information, is bringing a historical column and/or photo such as the “Blast from the Past” that was featured last year. Bashaw Star is working with the Bashaw Historical Society to bring important stories to our pages.
“Over the years we have worked hard to raise the Star banner and now is the next step in the continuous process,” said Heyden-Kaye.
Bashaw Star has recently earned editorial awards through the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association and with the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards, and we also want to showcase that to our readers.
“It’s exciting to see what we will hear from our readers related to how we can improve on this newspaper,” said Heyden-Kaye. “Plus, it will be great to share our new banner with readers.”
