The Battle River School Division (BRSD) staff are hitting the 2023-24 school year running.
On Aug. 29, 2023, staff from across the division came together in Camrose for a learning day to reinforce the commitment to teaching and learning prioritized in Battle River School Division’s three-year plan.
The learning day featured a pair of motivational speakers, Jessica Janzen and Tom Watson, who both brought messages closely aligned with the division’s vision “Every Student, Every Day, a Success.” BRSD recognizes that staff members from across the division play “an integral role in the lives of our students.”
“We believe that by coming together to share our experiences and insights, we will continue our supportive and vibrant community within our school division,” said Rhae-Ann Holoien, superintendent, via a media release.
“Our hope is that all BRSD staff will leave the event feeling empowered, inspired, and prepared to make a positive impact on the students and communities we serve.”
On Aug. 30, staff were back at it in further learning sessions held at BRSD schools in Camrose with a focus on literacy, numeracy and diversity.
Sessions covered a number of topics such as exploring the new curriculum, First Nations, Metis, Inuit education, student assessment techniques, and effective planning.
Each of the sessions was conducted by expert leadership within the BRSD.
With learning done and the schools having been cleaned and upgraded over the summer, staff across the division are ready for students to return to schools across the division.
Students return to class for the first day of the 2023-24 school year on Sept. 5, 2023.
