Junvier Fajarito, 20, was arrested at his home in Camrose on Jan. 2, 2021 for allegedly distributing children sexual abuse materials online.

Fajarito has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

The Camrose Police Service (CPS) announced the arrest on social media on Jan. 15.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation between ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit and CPS.

“ICE‘s investigation identified a Camrose suspect, and at that point, Camrose Police became involved. Our agencies were then able to work together to make a timely arrest,” said Sgt. Scott Sveinbjornson of CPS in the post.

ICE alleges that Fajarito distributed child sexual abuse materials in an online chat group last year. The RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre became aware of the offence and referred the investigation to ICE.

“The investigation is ongoing pending the forensic examination of computers and electronic devices seized from the suspect’s home.

“ICE is an integrated team that investigates offences involving child pornography, any computer-related child sexual abuse, child luring over the Internet, voyeurism involving victims under the age of 18, and child sex trade/tourism.

“Anyone with information about this investigation, or any child exploitation offence is encouraged to contact local police or cybertip.ca.”
