The Castor Elks has donated to Castor’s Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital.
Castor’s service club donated 20 “contingency bags” to the hospital in April.
The bags, which cost $35 each, contain items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, cellphone charges, a brush, soap, and facial tissues.
“They are necessary items to carry (someone) over,” said Phil Dietz, a local Elks member.
According to Tammy Rossing, a hospital staff member, the bags can be provided to patients, or caregivers such as parents, if someone is brought into the emergency department and is sent out to the city without time for them to run home and gather essentials.
The bags are provided by the Elks through the Alberta Elks Foundations’s Might Lil Elk Program.
“These care bags offer an opportunity to provide immediate support t families from one family to another,” notes a card provided with the bags.
