The County of Stettler’s Community Investment Program has seen an uptick in requests during its second intake window.
For the second intake, seven applications were received compared to just three in the first.
Budgeted with $15,000 annually, the program was created with two ‘windows’ during the year for community organizations to apply to the county for funding.
The deadline for the first intake of the program was Dec. 31, 2021, and the applications submitted were discussed at the January 2022 council meeting. The first window covers events taking place in the first half of the year and $5,000 worth of funding was allocated between the three applying groups.
In the second intake, which had a deadline of May 31 for events in the later half of the year, the seven applicants were discussed during the June 8 council meeting and the remaining $10,000 was allocated.
Stettler’s Pheasant Festival received $2,000, the East Bound and Down poker rally received $2,500, Endmoor minor ball received $1,000, Donalda and District Museum received $2,500, the Canadian Gelbvieh Association received $500 to go towards its junior show, and the Big Valley Bust-Out Rodeo received $1,500.
A seventh application was denied as the organization previously received funding during the first intake earlier in the year.
The next intake for the Community Investment Program will be in the fall with a Dec. 31 deadline.
