Lacombe’s own Gord Bamford will perform at the Lacombe Regional Airport for the Drive-in and Fly-in Concert on Sept. 26.
The concert is being hosted by the City of Lacombe and Vesta Energy and is a COVID-friendly event.
There are 175 tickets available and they are being sold by the car or planeload starting at $75 per vehicle. Proceeds from the tickets will go towards the Gord Bamford Foundation.
On their website, the foundation states they “provide funds for initiatives that include or involve music, education, health care, sports and multi-use facilities that benefit youth across Canada.”
In a press release, the City of Lacombe said the foundation has funded approximately $400,000 worth of community initiatives within the region.
The city is providing the venue for the concert and $5,000 in sponsorship funding.
In the release, the city said the concert will offer economic benefits for local businesses and has the added attraction of taking place during the annual Culture and Harvest Festival.
In a recent twitter statement, Bamford said the concert in Lacombe might be one of his last drive-ins. He also encouraged those with vehicles besides cars and planes to come out as well.
“If you have a truck, bring your lawn chairs, sit in the back of your trucks and enjoy some great country music,” he said.
Aircraft will be able to fly in for the concert, but organizers are asking that no fly-bys take place during Bamford’s set.
