The Heartland Cattlemen’s Classic was back in Stettler at the end of January.
Hosted at the Stettler and District Agricultural Society Agriplex, the three-day show took over the facility from Jan. 26-28.
“The weather couldn’t have been better,” said Alanna Weaver, an employee of the ag. society.
According to Weaver, the event was broken down into three days with bulls on one day, heifers on another, and juniors on the final day.
In total, there were over 80 animals displayed on the Saturday of the event, 34 in open exhibition on the Friday, and around 90 junior cattle on the final day.
As usual, a dinner was held on Friday evening which had over 200 people attend. A free pancake breakfast was also hosted on Saturday morning for competitors.
According to Weaver, the event would not be able to be held without the sponsors. Around 26 agriculture and animal-related sponsors stepped in to help offer the 2024 edition of the show.
Thanks to the sponsors, there was over $30,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs.
As for each day, they were “really well attended” by walk-in people coming to check out the action as well.
In addition, thanks to the wonders of technology, the event managed to draw in a “whole new crowd this year” thanks to live streaming.
“We had over 70 each day,” said Weaver.
For those attending the show in person, a concession was set up for those who felt the need to get a snack.
