The Leduc RCMP detachment has charged a “repeat offender” following a suspicious person complaint on June 18.

A little before 10 p.m., Leduc RCMP officers responded to an area near 62 Ave. and 42 St. in Leduc for the complaint.

Determining the complaint was the in-progress break and enter of a business and that the suspect was last seen in the area hiding underneath a vehicle, officers began making foot patrols.

The suspect was located and arrested as he attempted to flee the area.

Leduc RCMP officers have charged Garret John Faryna, 30, of Leduc, with:

-Break and enter;

-Mischief under $5,00;

-Fail to comply with a release order;

-Resist arrest;

-And possession of break-in instruments.

Faryna was taken before a justice where he was remanded into custody until his next court date in Leduc Court of Justice on June 29, 2023.

“The successful arrest during a break and enter in progress is thanks to a member of the public immediately calling in the suspicious activity and the quick response from the officers working,” said Cst. Cheri-Lee Smith, in a June 26 media release. “This is a prime example of the public and police working together.”

The Leduc RCMP, and all Alberta RCMP detachments, encourage the public to report suspicious activity.

Reporting lets the detachments know where to look for trouble, who is causing the trouble, and where they may go in the future.
