Riders of all abilities will be putting their horsemanship skills to test at the second Donalda Light Horse Show, which will showcase an array of equestrian performances on Aug. 10th.

From English, Western and Trail Riding, to Jumping, Gymkhana, Costume, Halter and Showmanship, the classes of the second Donalda Light Horse show will have something for everyone, said Co-ordinator Cheryl Malin.

“It is a lot of fun and a great place to come into something that has a low competitive environment. It gives people a chance to try other classes,” she said.

In its second year, the Donalda Light Horse Show, hosted by the Donalda and District Agricultural Society, has added new classes, judges and games. The event will take place rain or shine at the Donalda Ag Society equestrian centre located in the Town of Donalda, about 40 km north of Settler.

Malin says they are always looking for competitors to participate in the differing classes.

“It’s a great way to meet people and there is prize money available. Come out and spend the day,” she said.

The show goes from 9 a.m. until approximately 5 p.m. on Aug. 10th.

Competitors are asked to register before Aug. 5th.

There is outdoor horse stalling available, as well as camping on site. The area features trails that can be rode on after the show or the following day, Malin explained.
