For the Bashaw Star

Bashaw Community Resource Centre (CRC) has set up their “Travelling Suppers” event to better connect families in the Bashaw community.

The event is happening on a yet-to-be-decided date in May and will involve four families from around Bashaw signing on to cook and serve one of four courses for the other participating families.

According to Ashley Buelow-Erickson, program facilitator for Bashaw CRC, the event is meant to take around two-and-a-half hours. During the evening, the families will walk from one house to another, starting with the appetizer and moving through to the side, main and dessert courses. Families should expect to spend half an hour at each house.

There is no direct price for being part of the dinner, however, the families are responsible for preparing and presenting their chosen course.

Buelow-Erickson was sure to point out that in order to keep the event reasonable, only families involved with the creation of one of the courses can eat at the other courses.

She also mentioned that for larger courses like the main course, it’s important to have the majority of the cooking complete before the event begins. The time limit placed upon this event leaves very little time for cooking once it begins.

The theme of this dinner is western cuisine. Buelow-Erickson said there may be other chances to change up the theme in the future, but since this is a new event Bashaw CRC wants to keep the dinner simple for everyone.

Bashaw CRC wants this to be a chance for four families to connect.

“A little prep has to be done, but the main point is fun and seeing people again,” said Buelow-Erickson.

The deadline to sign up for the Bashaw Travelling Supper is April 29. Interested families can register by calling 780-372-4074 or emailing ericksona.007@gmail.com.

You can also sign up by coming into Bashaw CRC.
