Charolais Banner magazine is reporting the best ever total for Charolais bull sales in the spring of 2018.

That’s in part to four sales in the Stettler area that make up 96 sales across the country since the fall of 2017.

Gross sales were up nearly $1.35 million dollars, thanks to six more sales over the winter than the previous year.

It was also the best year in 37 years for the sales average, with over 3,400 bulls sold averaging $6,160, along with the largest number of animals sold.

The Charolais breed is white in colour, and is often crossbred with the Hereford and Angus breeds.

The Charolais Banner is the national publication for the Charolais breed and collects data from across seven provinces, including the Alberta Charolais Association.

The association itself was founded in 1961 in Camrose as the North Central Alberta Charolais Club.
