For those looking to learn more about the many organizations, groups, and services in Bashaw, a Community Information Fair is coming up on Sept. 9 at the Bashaw Community Centre.
“I’ve been in Bashaw for about 13 years now, and there are so many groups here that do everything from hockey, curling, Tai Chi, and pickleball to theatre,” said organizer Gudrun Feller.
“This summer, someone called me up, because my name is on the list for the seniors’ centre, and said, ‘Could you tell me what is going on in town?’
“So I thought why don’t all the groups get together and hold an information fair? You can take registrations, you can display what you want, you could do fundraising, you could recruit people — and you can also just give out information.”
Feller said she has a ukulele group in town and she also wanted an effective and more streamlined means of getting the word out about that as well.
“So I also think this would be a good place for people to come and see me face-to-face, talk, and get to know me. I also thought why not do this for all of the other organizations in town?”
Again, the Bashaw Information Community Fair will run Sept. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Bashaw Community Centre. “Tables are free — there is no charge,” said Feller.
It will also be in conjunction with Bashaw Community Resource Centre’s ‘BDSS Pay Want You Want Market, Sports Swap, Bake Sale and Concession’.
Feller does ask that those interested in participating in the Information Community Fair contact her to register their tables by calling her at 403-322-3238.
