Two of the victims in Thursday night’s fatal crash in Maskwacis have been identified as Kevin and Lisa Montour.

According to a post on Facebook, a memorial will be held for them on Sunday afternoon at the Native Full Gospel Church.

“Thank you for your thoughts and concern for the family at this time,” wrote Sherry-Lynne McGilvery.

Three people were declared dead at the scene after a motorcycle, pickup truck and SUV collided on Highway 2A and Secondary Highway 611 west.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck traveling northbound on Highway 2A attempted a turn onto Highway 611 west and collided with a motorcycle traveling southbound,” RCMP said.

The driver and passenger on the motorcycle were thrown off, and the driver and passenger of the pickup truck got out to help, when a southbound SUV collided with the initial scene.

“The 51-year-old male driver of the motorcycle along with his 47-year-old female passenger, as well as the 47-year-old female passenger of the pickup truck, all succumbed to their injuries on scene,” police said. “All three were from Maskwacis.”

It is not clear which of the three victims were the Montours.

The tragedy hits close to home for RCMP Staff Sgt. Simon McDermott.

“Our condolences to all the families affected by this terrible incident,” said McDermott. “The RCMP and their Victim Services Units from both Maskwacis and Wetaskiwin, as well as the Urgent Mental Health Unit will work to provide whatever support community members may seek to get through this.”

The driver of the pickup truck as well as the driver and three passengers of the SUV were not injured.
