February 20, 1923 - June 20, 2020
Claire Jean Pearson, age 97, passed away peacefully June 20, 2020 at Bashaw Meadows. She was born February 20, 1923 in Bashaw, Alberta to Edward and Vida Pearson.
A lifelong Bashaw community member, Claire was well-loved in her small town. She was a homemaker in the true sense of the word. She raised her 8 children in a home that always seemed to hold the aroma of freshly baked bread. A visitor in her home never left hungry for either food or company as she made time for everyone. In later years, those skills were shared with patients in the Bashaw General Hospital as she prepared their meals and snacks.
As a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and even great, great grandmother, Claire was at her happiest
with a visit, a card, a phone call, or just a quiet hug or hand hold from her children and grandchildren. Her family was her everything, but she loved many as if they were all her family as well. She will be most remembered for her kindness, generosity, empathy and compassion towards others.
Claire is lovingly remembered and survived by her three daughters, Karen Shaw, Valerie Sten and Vida (Rick) Lewis; her four sons Wayne Northey, Vince (Vicky) Northey, Grant (Jackie) Northey and Murray Northey; plus 18 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren, and one (soon to be two) great, great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son Lloyd Northey and her son-in-law's, Danny Shaw and Doug Sten and great grandchildren, Kiera Shaw and Callie Rose.
Due to the current public health restrictions, the family had a private graveside service. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Bashaw Cemetery (TownofBashaw), the Bashaw United Church or the charity of your choice in her name.
