Jan 29, 1939 - May 19, 2018
Florence Eva Elaine Rider passed away May 19, 2018 at Stettler Health Care Centre at the age of 79 years.

Flo was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on January 29, 1939 to Albert and Louella Hay.

She enjoyed the rural life and developed a deep love of community. She was always willing to lend a hand or help a neighbour and was involved in many community organizations in the Red Deer Lake and Priddis areas including the Women's Institute.

She enjoyed many creative crafts over the years, especially sewing. Flo started her own custom drapery business and worked extensively with many Lodges in Calgary.

Flo spent many years as Accreted Record Technician working in hospital records and medical secretary specializing in Radiology transcription. Her dedication to quality and accuracy was in high demand over the years.

In March of 1975 Flo's dreams came true when her and her first husband adopted an adorable active blonde boy, Micheal. She was blessed again when her granddaughter Kody & grandson Brayden were born.

In the Spring of 1998 Flo and Ron discovered that they had a lot more in common than just that Ron's sister had married Flo's brother. Ron & Flo were married on October 7, 2000. Flo loved the return to a farm life and quickly got involved in the WI and other community and service groups. She loved doing her part to help her new community.

Flo will be greatly missed by her many family and friends. She treated all her nieces and nephews (& their children) as her children and they will all miss their long talks and incredible hugs.

Flo is survived by her husband Ron Rider of Stettler; son Michael (Dawn) Howarth of Chestermere; grandchildren Brayden of Chestermere and Kody of Winslow, AZ; brothers Gordon (Louise) Hay of Spruce Grove and Tom (Shirley) Hay of Edson; sister in law Diane Hay of Bashaw; the extended Rider and Hay Families; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Flo was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Dorothy Olkovick and Madeline Kern and brother Mel Hay.

Graveside services were held at Donalda Cemetery at 10:30 AM on Saturday May 26, 2018 with Rev. Robin King of Bashaw United Church officiating. Funeral services were held at Stettler Funeral Home at 12:30 PM.
