In the latest web poll for the Bashaw Star, the signal was that respondents were ready to give up their wine lists.

A simple majority of the 14 votes received — eight — were on the ‘No’ side of the question: Will you be supporting Alberta’s ban on B.C. wine?

Now, while those that responded to the poll didn’t want to state their opinions, there were several comments made on social media to the same question posed to Ponoka News readers.

Below are a few of the comments that were posted on Facebook:

“I will definitely be supporting B.C. wineries. AB liquor stores will unfortunately loose my business until this nonsense is rectified,” stated Manley Shaver.

Meanwhile, this reader figures maybe consumers need to start being more supportive of local businesses.

“Might be a great time to start supporting Alberta distilleries, breweries, and wine makers. The BC wines will come back eventually, and in the meantime people can start appreciating some of the good stuff that’s Alberta made,” noted Gina LoCicero.

Another comment suggested that other wine products are preferable to any Canadian wines.

“Got to be honest. Wine is wine is wine. B.C. and Ontario wines are all kinda terrible,” said Lilanna Black.
