Across Canada, provincial COVID-19 restrictions are being removed as we emerge from the pandemic. And we are seeing some federal mandates be relaxed and Canada’s Conservatives are asking for the ones that are left to be removed. We are seeing a sense of normalcy return to our lives by going to restaurants without masks, attending events without proof of vaccination, and watching sports in person. This week I wanted to share some of the amazing tourism opportunities that exist right here in Battle River—Crowfoot for you to try this summer.

East central Alberta is blessed with a diverse landscape which allows for a variety of outdoor activities. We have a host of lakes and rivers for boating, fishing, and water skiing, among other forms of sport. The plethora of campgrounds, parks, and land features throughout our region offers a relaxing getaway and is still in our backyard. The ways you can enjoy summertime are endless right here in Battle River—Crowfoot.

East central Alberta is cowboy country. Rodeos, stampedes, and bullaramas feature the best of western talent. Plus, for those who like to sit back and enjoy the music, there are a number of festivals, including big-name performances in some of our communities: at local arenas, at the Badlands Amphitheater, and of course the Big Valley Jamboree.

For those who love culture and history, don’t hesitate to check out the many museums in east central Alberta; from the dinosaurs to the history of early settlers of our region, and to the history of Canada’s military, there is always something new to learn. Plus, there are two local short-line railways that are ready to welcome you aboard. On the arts side, we have world-class and great amateur entertainment for all ages and genres, plus galleries and art exhibitions.

One of the great honours I have had as your Member of Parliament is travelling to different communities and seeing the multitudes of cuisine and hospitality offered by our many restaurants. I highly encourage folks who are needing to get away to look at everything that is local. You will be pleasantly surprised by the calibre of cuisine offered in our local communities.

As we stretch our legs after more than two years of COVID-19, the businesses in our communities are still feeling the pain, so please go see what Battle River—Crowfoot has to offer and support our merchants. We offer world-class hospitality and products. Don’t forget to take a look at the history, arts, and culture of our area, I promise you won’t regret it.

Whether it is here in Battle River—Crowfoot, in Ottawa representing you in Parliament, or anywhere else where my duties may take me, I am always proud to come from a place that shows the best of Alberta and Canada.
