The Bashaw Stars peewees played a tough set of teams that challenged their skills at their home tournament.

Hosted over Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, the Stars knew they were in it tough when they played the Clive/Delburne Outlaw Blackhawks on the first night.

The Blackhawks sunk 11 pucks over Bashaw’s four goals with the real action coming in the second and third periods.

It wasn’t all one-sided. At the end of the first period, it was the Stars who had a 3-2 lead with scores coming from Brock Dawbin and Morgyn Fuller.

Something woke up the Blackhawks players in the next periods and the team skated themselves to a solid win with five goals made in the second and four in the third period.

Bashaw’s Karter Dawbin managed to score one more for the Stars in the third period.

Then on Saturday the Stars had two games; first against Duchess Storm where the Stars managed to capture one goal in the 11-1 final score. Morgyn Fuller scored for the Stars.

Later in the day the Stars then faced off against the Rockyford Roughnecks, again a tough challenge for the home team. Bashaw lost 11-2 with scores coming from Fuller and Brock Dawbin.

The Stars did show some resilience in this game as the Roughnecks scored six of their 11 goals in the first period. Bashaw managed to keep Roughnecks from major breakaways in the second and third periods.

All was not lost, however, with the Stars ending the tournament on a high note.

Playing against the Whitemud West Aces Dec. 3, the Stars had a solid back and forth finishing with a 7-5 win against the Aces. In an effort to ensure the win, the Stars secured four of their seven goals in the first period and the last three goals in the second.

Neither team managed to score in the last period. Scorers for the Stars were Tyler Pearson (2), Brock Dawbin (2), Colton Deleeuw, Taylor Fankhanel and Evan Lidberg.

This tournament closed the second in a hat trick of tournaments for the Stars. The bantam Stars played this past weekend with results to come next week.
